San Antonio's official
Krav Maga Worldwide®
training center

If you find yourself out of shape and concerned about the threat of violence, you’ve found something that can make you fit and fearless.

Krav Maga is a fighting system developed by the Israeli military. Their soldiers are men and women whose ages range from 18 to 51, so they focused on creating a hand-to-hand combat method that is:

  • Based on natural reflexes and body mechanics, making it quick and easy to learn, and
  • Not dependent on size or strength, so it can be used effectively by men and women of all ages.

911 Self Defense is the only official Krav Maga Worldwide® training provider in San Antonio. We are also one of the few centers in the world that is owned and operated by someone who has attained the rank of black belt in Krav Maga. You can count on receiving expert instruction as you begin your transformation.

Serious training in a fun environment

You’ll enjoy training in one of the largest Krav Maga fitness centers that exists. It’s an 8,000 square feet training facility that has three huge training rooms. You’ve probably never seen so many punching bags in one place. But we offer so much more than punching and kicking. You’ll find a variety of fitness classes and exercise gear to help you achieve peak fitness.

There’s variety built in to our self-defense training schedule, too. We offer over 25 classes every week.

Sure, you’ll learn to defend yourself and your loved ones against attackers. Even armed attackers. But what if you're not as flexible as you once were? Try our Yoga class. Need more strength? Our pump class (weight training) will fix that. Need conditioning? Choose from Pilates…kettle bell…high-intensity cardio/aerobics…our "bag" class which is like kickboxing but cranked up to "11"…and our own challenging Krav Core Mix class…

You’ll see results—fast

Will you have to wait before you start seeing the benefit? Absolutely not. You’ll learn something you can use in your very first self-defense class. If you take a couple of classes every week you’ll soon you'll be amazed at what you can do. And there’s no limit on what you can become—our self-defense training can take you from absolute beginner all the way up to the top levels of Krav Maga.

You, fearless and fit?

Ellen Degeneres trains in Krav Maga to fend off Chris Matthews!

Ellen Degeneres learning Krav MagaEllen Degeneres learning Krav Maga

The lead instructor of Krav Maga Worldwide in Los Angeles will be showing Ellen Degeneres how to defend herself on today's edition of The Ellen Degeneres Show.

Ellen’s interest in learning how to protect herself came after she was “assaulted” by Chris Mathews, host of MSNBC’s Hardball. There was an awkward moment when Chris appeared on her show and inadvertently groped Ellen as they danced. This grope (a.k.a. “The Incident”) has turned into a running joke, escalating to the point where Ellen is bringing in a Krav Maga Worldwide expert to help her learn how to deal with guests who just can’t seem to keep their hands off her!

Brandon Fraser used Krav Maga training to prepare for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emporer

Here is a link to an Movies Online interview with Brandon Fraser, in which he tells about director Rob Cohen putting him in Krav Maga training to get him ready for his fight scenes with Jet Li.

Also, here is an excerpt from a Fangoria interview with the movie's director:

I also had Brendan trained in [the Israeli self-defense technique] Krav Maga. I wanted him to have a brutal, direct approach and not try to emulate or imitate the fluidity of Jet Li.

Fraser discusses his Krav Maga training in his interview published by WalesOnline.co.uk:

Months before filming started, Fraser started his preparation for the task ahead and immersed himself in the rigours of mastering the Israeli martial arts Krav Maga and reacquainting himself on how to handle weapons, without making them look like an “actor with a prop”.

“Rob Cohen, our director, dispatched me to train in Krav Maga and with firearms, ratan sticks, and strength and endurance training to toughen myself, that helped prepare for a 100-plus day shooting schedule,” explains Fraser.
